A dynamic method for hosting participant-led conversations around issues that matter most to those present.
Open Space is a flexible, highly participatory method for facilitating dialogue, in which participants co-create the agenda and lead the discussions. Designed for groups of any size, this approach allows people to engage deeply, creatively, and collaboratively on the issues they care most about—unearthing insights, surfacing solutions, and sparking connections that more structured formats might miss.
Open Space works particularly well when a community or group is facing complexity, uncertainty, or diverse perspectives, making it a powerful tool. It creates space for participants to take ownership of both the process and outcomes, encouraging self-organisation, active listening, and emergent learning.
The process begins with an invitation around a central theme or question. From there, participants propose topics, form small discussion groups, and self-select which conversations to join. Several conversations happen simultaneously, and the Law of Two Feet (or Mobility) gives participants permission to move between groups—only staying where they are learning or contributing.
